Newark, Alameda County
The eastern end of the Dumbarton Bridge touches down beside Newark, linking the city to Menlo Park and the Peninsula across the narrowest part of the bay. Marshes and old salt ponds along the shore belong to the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, the first urban refuge in the national system, where levee trails look out over shorebirds and mudflats.
